Designers Laura Ireson and Grace Hackendorn say they’re involved in a multitude of projects at Bernardon - an integrated design firm with two Pennsylvania locations in Philadelphia and West Chester, and a third location in Wilmington, Delaware.
And when working on multiple projects they need reliable software that’s easy to use with great support when they need it.
Easy to use wasn’t the case with the platform they were using prior to Gather.
“Creating specs became very tedious and took many hours to complete.,” said Grace.
Gather was immediately easy to use. And it was fun, too.
It’s not easy to make the decision to try new software - even if what you’re using isn’t exactly what you want. There’s a worry that it won’t be worth the effort to switch.

Laura’s first impression was that she loved it:
“Gather is enjoyable to use and makes collecting information easy. It feels like you're online shopping! I really appreciate the visual aspect of it. It’s organized and easy to read.
“I recently used Gather while specifying decorative light fixtures on a project. I was able to quickly make several options for the client and print out great visual sheets that clearly stated all the information with images of the light. The exported PDFs that come out of Gather are professional, so it’s great we can use them for presentations as well.”
Grace agrees with Laura:
“It may sound impossible, but I enjoy specifying more now. Gather is a visually appealing platform and it prompts you to fill out the information. So, now I can feel confident that I'm not missing anything in addition to the pre-populated data. I really enjoy having the ability to keep track of the cost and discounting of each item. It gives me the ability to watch the total to make sure that we’re staying on budget.”

Now that they’ve used it for a year, they’ve discovered even more they like about Gather.
Reflecting on what they like most about Gather, both Laura and Grace had trouble choosing just one thing.
Laura said, “Gather helps me be even more organized. Everything I need is all in one spot.
Something else she loves is the library feature.
“The library is a great tool since we have multiple offices. It’s great to see what others are specifying and use that database to find something we may need for another project. “
And for Grace?
“It lets me keep track of what products I’m specifying and how much the total is. That way, every time I add something, I can see what the total is, how close we’re getting to the budget, and if I need to make any changes.
Reliability is also something that Grace values about using Gather:
“With the user friendly platform it gives you the ability to organize things by area and see them visually. With this level of organization it’s easy to tell if you’re missing a piece of furniture in a room.”
